Galliford Try has hosted an official topping out ceremony for the Worthing Integrated Care Centre (WICC) project, by tightening the last bolt on the steel structure of the building.
The Galliford Try team and Richard Watts, Area Director of Galliford Try Building Southern were joined by dignitaries including Councillor Dr Beccy Cooper, Leader of Worthing Borough Council, and representatives from key stakeholders Sussex Community Foundation Trust, Sussex Partnership Foundation Trust and Worthing Medical Group.
The WICC is a state-of-the-art facility funded by Worthing Borough Council, that will combine GP, mental health, community, and dentistry services under one roof, as well as providing a pharmacy and services for families and young children. There will also be a multi-storey car park adjacent to the WICC with electric vehicle charging points and cycle parking.
The site is on track to achieve BREEAM Excellent, and will feature an air source heat pump and photovoltaic panels to provide its heating.
Cllr Dr Beccy Cooper, the Leader of Worthing Borough Council, said: "Once complete, the Worthing Integrated Care Centre will centralise NHS services and bring much-needed healthcare services to our communities. I can’t wait to see it open and helping those in the area who need it most."
Richard Watts, Area Director for Galliford Try Building Southern, said: "We were delighted to be able to invite so many key stakeholders to mark this latest stage in the development. The project team have made a strong start to achieve the progress they have so far, and we look forward to working with everyone involved to ensure we deliver a high-quality building for the local community next year."
