Redcliffe Bridge in Bristol is reopen on one side of the bridge to pedestrians from 5pm on Friday 18 November and to cyclists and general traffic from Monday 21 November.
Griffiths, the contractor undertaking the works, has confirmed that to allow the deck to be waterproofed and resurfaced in stages, only one footway will be available for pedestrians and one lane for general traffic, including cyclists. Two-way traffic flow will be controlled with temporary traffic signals.
The southbound side will reopen first, while work takes place to the northbound side. This will be followed by the northbound side reopening while the southbound side is resurfaced. It is hoped the works will be completed by the end of the year when the full bridge will reopen.
From 21 November, general traffic will no longer be able to follow the Bristol Bridge diversion, which will revert to a bus gate. Signage will be displayed to warn drivers of the change.
On the weekend leading up to the bridge reopening to all users, the footway will be open for pedestrians from 5pm on Friday 18 November.
Councillor Don Alexander, Cabinet Member for Transport, said: "I am pleased the bridge will be open for everyone to use again next week, and that we are getting closer to the refurbishment works being completed.
"As temporary traffic signals will be in place at the bridge over the coming weeks, please be aware that some delays in the area are likely. We hope everyone will bear with us while we work to repair this important bridge."
