Roofing Expert Doubles Training Network In Second Year

Now entering its second year, PermaRoof Commercial, part of PermaGroup, is celebrating another successful 12 months, by more than doubling its PermaRoof Registered Installer (PRI) network from 2021.

Since its inception in December 2020, the company has gone from strength to strength, despite ongoing sector challenges, training a total of 124 PRIs in a bid to respond to the industry skills gaps.

PermaRoof Commercial introduced its specialist flat roofing training courses in RubberTop Premium EPDM, Firestone RubberGard EPDM, and PermaRoof 500 liquid waterproofing, which can be undertaken at the dedicated training facility in Alfreton.

Contractors can attend or refer their employees to attend the courses to upskill and refresh on essential aspects of executing commercial contracts including full technical, design and specification support.   

Sunny Lotay, national commercial manager at PermaRoof Commercial, said: "We're incredibly proud of the network of skilled PRIs we have developed this year and looking ahead, we have some great plans to expand on this next year. We will be revisiting our existing PRI database and looking to increase qualified installers to at least 200 by the end of 2023, as part of our ongoing commitment to upskill the workforce."

The team of flat roofing specialists hasn't just had a successful training year, but has also secured 62 commercial projects, up from 35 in 2021, with a further 92 live projects in progress. It has also completed 30 large-scale tenders, covering a roof space is more than 250m2, the largest of which is an ongoing development approximately 28,000m2.

Sunny said: "Our commercial branch of the business has continued to grow throughout its second year, with some significant wins in terms of tenders and projects. We've also expanded the variety of buildings we're working on, from schools to historical landmarks, hospitals to residential schemes – it's been exciting to venture into new areas, and we’re eager to continue."

To meet ongoing demand, the team has welcomed Neiah Slater as customer service advisor and promoted Sunny’s remit to include management of the national stockist team, responsible for meeting commercial targets of the merchant arm of the business. In the new year PermaGroup Commercial will be looking to make key hires to strengthen the stockist team and bring on National Commercial specification managers to focus solely on building merchant and commercial relationships.
