Highway Improvement Work to Start In Staffordshire

Construction News Image
Work to improve and upgrade highways along the A34 near Stone are expected to start on Monday 16 January.

Staffordshire County Council's highways teams will be carrying out works at The Fillybrooks/Walton Roundabout, the A520 Stafford Road and the B5026 Eccleshall Road.

The exploratory works are needed ahead of a major resurfacing scheme in April, part of a £5.2 million investment by the county council into improving eight major gateways into the county's towns.

The work is expected to take around two weeks to complete and will include extensive drainage cleaning, along with detailed surveys of the road surface and excavation of trial holes.

To ensure the scheme can be carried out safely, overnight works will start on Monday 16th January for 5 nights with a road closure of the B5026 Eccleshall Road, and lane closures of the A34 The Fillybrooks/Walton Roundabout and A520 Stafford Road. The B5026 Eccleshall Road will be closed from the A34 to Tilling Drive from 8pm to 6am each night.

A diversion will be in place via the A34, A51, A519 through Eccleshall and B5026 to Stone and vice versa.

From Monday 23rd January temporary lane closures will then be in place during day times until Friday 27th January.

Access will be maintained for residents and businesses during the works where possible and crews will be doing their upmost to reduce any disruption.
