Work To Start To Improve Water Quality In West Sussex

Construction News Image
Southern Water is to invest almost £2 million to improve water quality in West Sussex.

Work to improve water quality, reduce storm overflows and protect the environment in Cuckfield and the River Ouse is set to begin at the end of March.

The project will involve contractor GTb, which is a joint venture between Galliford Try Environment and Binnies UK Ltd installing new equipment at Cuckfield Wastewater Treatment Works.

Work includes building additional storm storage which will allow more wastewater to be stored on site before it is treated and means it will be treated to a higher standard.

It is one of many examples of how Southern Water is investing £2bn between 2020 and 2025 to improve environmental performance.

Project Manager for Southern Water, Robin Woodward, said: "We know how important it is to protect and enhance water quality and our precious environment across the areas we serve. These vital improvements at Cuckfield add to the other investments we’re making in West Sussex."
