Norwich City Council has approved the Anglia Square scheme.

Graham Nelson, executive director for development and city services at the council, said: "Securing the comprehensive redevelopment of Anglia Square is a longstanding priority of the council and today’s decision is an important milestone in making this a reality.

"This site has been in desperate need of development for many years and today’s decision will assist Norwich in benefiting from £15m in government funding to make that happen and help to transform this part of the city.


“Anglia Square sits in the most deprived area of Norwich and one of the top 10% of most deprived areas in the country. A lack of investment in this area has had a negative effect on our residents and the city and created real inequalities for the communities and businesses who call it home.

"This decision means we can significantly deliver on our council priorities for the people of Norwich – providing much-needed housing and affordable housing, job opportunities and public open spaces.

"This is not just about replacing buildings, it’s about creating a real, long-term improvement in people’s quality of life."
