Redevelopment and upgrade work at Reigate Fire Station in Surrey is expected to commence in Spring 2025, subject to planning permission.
Initial plans to invest in the fire station have been given the go-ahead by Surrey County Council (SCC).
The plans propose a part-demolish and rebuild of the current fire station, located at Wray Park.
Plans include the installation of solar panels, green roofs and electric vehicle charging to support the organisation’' greener futures agenda.
Surrey’s Chief Fire Officer, Dan Quin, said: "I am really pleased that Surrey County Council’s Cabinet have agreed to invest more in our buildings. This follows £6.25m funding approval earlier this year for Chobham and Lingfield fire stations, which have also now been consulted on with the local community to ensure their voices are heard.
"These proposals will improve workplaces for us and our colleagues, and in turn then support us to keep our communities safe – which is always our ultimate aim."
