Property developer Anwyl has been granted approval by Cheshire West and Chester Council to build 103 new homes in Winnington.
The new phase includes 87 private sale properties in a mix of three and four-bedroom designs, including some set out over two and a half storeys, plus 16 affordable homes. They will be based at the former Winnington Business Park site, off Winnington Avenue.
The new homes will take the number of homes built by Anwyl in the area up to 227. Each of the new properties will be fitted with EV charging points.
Anwyl first acquired two areas of land at the former business park in 2020. The first homes in the development were made available in February 2021. Work is expected to continue at the site until 2026.
As part of the planning agreement Anwyl will invest around £700,000 in the local community. This will include almost £390,000 towards local education provision. In addition to, financial contributions of almost £170,000 to improve local parks and facilities, more than £110,000 for healthcare and £30,000-plus for highways.
Commenting on the plans, John Grime, managing director of Anwyl Homes Lancashire, said: "Securing planning approval for second phase of Winnington Place means we can continue to redevelop a former brownfield site to provide much-needed new homes. This latest phase of 103 new homes will effectively be a continuation of our existing development. Along with housing, we'll also be enhancing the environment surrounding the homes with more than 3,000 square metres of open space, including a wildlife corridor, plus allotments and play areas for residents to enjoy.
"Almost all 124 properties in the original phase have now been sold, with many of them occupied. Demand is such that we already have a waiting list of people interested in these latest homes, which we’ll soon be releasing for sale."
