ESH Group Developments Boosts Local Economy In Darlington
ESH Group has invested £38.2 million into the local economy by using local suppliers in Darlington.
The housing developer is working on two developments in Elder Brook Park and West Park Garden Village. The developments are a result of a partnership with Darlington Borough Council. When complete they will deliver hundreds of new homes to the area.
Work on the West Park Garden Village commenced in 2018 and features the first new park to be created in Darlington in 100 years. Meanwhile, works at Elder Brook Park began in 2022. It features 155 new homes ranging from two up to four-bedrooms, with 15 different house types being built.
Relying on a local supply chain, ESH Group spent 90% of its procurement costs locally for the West Park Garden Village site. Additionally, 97% of costs were spent locally on the Elder Brook Park development.
ESH revealed that £23.6 million had been spent in the Darlington and Tees Valley area meanwhile £14.6 million had been spent in Durham.
The developer held a Meet the Development event in Darlington's Blackwell Grange Hotel earlier in the year in a bid to grow its local supply chain, more than 85 businesses attended.
Commenting on the projects, Nick Bradshaw-Hughes, Land Manager at Homes by ESH, said: "We are a local housebuilder and pride ourselves on delivering developments that are superior in quality, with that we are passionate about procuring a local supply chain – most of which being SMEs – that share our desire for excellence.
"By re-investing more than £38 million in the local area demonstrates our commitment to supporting local. When we bring forward sites for development, we want to positively impact the local area throughout the construction phase as well as on completion."
