The UK's largest waste-washing plant is set to open in Merseyside early this summer, revolutionising the region's recycling capacity for recycled aggregates.
The 30 acre site in Kirkby is under the proud ownership of the CCC Group, a local, family-owned waste management company based in Liverpool that offers skip hire, aggregate, muck away, and waste disposal services across the North West.
Capable of recycling a million tonnes of waste per year, the new plant is set to open in July and will help the firm recycle 100% of the waste brought in from construction, demolition, utility, rail, and excavation projects across the region.
Director of Wavertree Waste, Sean Munro, said: "We are extremely proud to announce the opening of this revolutionary recycling plant in Kirkby. The potential that the plant holds is exactly in line with our environmental values of responsible waste management and our 0% landfill ambitions.
"Not only will the site allow us to recycle all the construction and industrial waste that comes through its doors, it will increase our already notable recycling capacity and help the good people of Liverpool and the North West dispose of their waste more responsibly and efficiently."
The site will be able to wash waste material brought in and resupply any recycled aggregate material brought in, reducing the need for new aggregate material and promoting a more sustainable 'circular economy' around the built environment, a sector already responsible for 25% of the country's greenhouse gas emissions.
CCC Group began in 1986 as a small family-run business based out in Liverpool and has since become the region’s premier waste management firm, working with major UK contractors in recent years. It also has several brands under it including Wavertree Waste and Spotmix Skip Hire which offers skip hire services to businesses and homes across Liverpool and the North West.
