Refurbishment work is to commence at Alconbury Close playground in Warrington.

It will be transformed from a tiny pocket park with limited play value into an new space, fully equipped to provide valuable play experiences for local children.

The investment of more than £40,000, which is being provided by the council, will breathe new life into the play area, with a range of fantastic play equipment aimed at children aged 2-8.


New additions to the playground will include a mini swing, elephant springy, spinning turnstile and ‘toddler express’ train. Children will also be able to enjoy using a sign language play panel and communicate with each other across the play area using ‘talking mobile phones’.

Warrington Borough Council Leader, Cllr Russ Bowden, said: "This is a fantastic project and a great example of the work we are doing to invest in our playgrounds and build inclusive play and activity into all of Warrington's communities.

"The new-look Alconbury Close playground will be a real asset for the local area, providing an excellent environment for children to get active and have fun."
