Beard has successfully retained its prestigious Investors in People (IIP) gold accreditation for a fourth successive time.
The three-year accreditation is presented to companies that can demonstrate a clear commitment to its people, fostering a culture of continued engagement, development and investment. It is recognised in more than 60 countries across the world as the benchmark for people management and leadership and is one of the highest awards a firm can achieve.
To secure the accreditation, firms must undergo a rigorous assessment of their practices, policies, leadership and strategy. This is conducted by IIP’s independent assessors and includes information and feedback from employees from across the business.
The success follows Beard’s IIP gold award for staff health and wellbeing, which recognises the company’s inclusive policies and people first approach. In total, Beard has been accredited by Investors in People since 2003.
Neil Sherreard, Deputy Chairman of Beard said: "To maintain such a prestigious accreditation and meet IIP’s exacting standards for two decades demonstrates our commitment to our people is not a passing phase. Instead, it’s a guiding principle that has been in place since the business began more than 130 years ago.
"As we continue to expand our regional footprint and find success in new sectors, treating people fairly, keeping them safe and providing opportunities to learn and develop remains a clear priority. Whether it’s employees, graduates and apprentices, suppliers or customers, people are integral to our business and our culture. We will continue to work hard to ensure Beard is a great place to work and a company people are proud to work for."
In the 2023 review, Cath Parish, IIP assessor said: "One of the most positive aspects of this review revolved around the perception that Beard is a really good place to work. People remarked on the friendly, family atmosphere within the organisation. The trainee programme is, in their words, 'second to none', and all trainees highlighted the exceptional support and dedication of the Chairman.
"The review confirmed that people feel valued and proud to work for Beard. I was very impressed with the vibrant and supportive attitude within Beard. I am delighted that Beard has maintained the Gold award during this Investors in People Review."
