Willmott Dixon Retains 'Champion Level' Status

Construction News Image
Willmott Dixon has retained 'Champion level' status with the Carbon Reduction Code for the Built Environment (CRC).

This accreditation reflects the company's ambition to be a zero-carbon business, without offsetting, by 2030 and to work with a net zero supply chain by 2040.

Hosted by the Cambridge Centre for Smart Infrastructure and Construction (CSIC) and part of the Construction Leadership Council’s Construct Zero initiative, the CRC requires the company to publish its annual carbon emissions and progress against decarbonisation targets. All organisations which comply to the Code must have set out and published plans to meet Net Zero by 2045, including annual targets to make the majority of cuts needed before 2030, and to publish annual progress against those targets.

To achieve Champion level, an organisation must sign up to additional commitments designed for supply chain members or clients.

Michael Cross, national head of Sustainability at Willmott Dixon, said: "I'm proud we have achieved and retained our Champion level status with the Carbon Reduction Code for the Built Environment. Our ‘Now or Never’ sustainability strategy to 2030 sets a clear route, not only to become a zero-carbon business by 2030, but to ensure all our new buildings and major refurbishments achieve net zero operational carbon. We know this cannot be achieved alone and this Champion level accreditation recognises our efforts to take the supply chain with us.

"The Carbon Reduction Code is helping to accelerate our journey to deliver brilliant buildings, transform lives, strengthen communities, and enhance the environment so our world is fit for future generations."
