Countryside Partnerships Teams Up With Lighthouse Charity

Construction News Image
Countryside Partnerships South East Midlands, a leading construction company, collaborated with Lighthouse Charity, the sole organisation dedicated to supporting the construction industry's physical, mental, and emotional well-being.

The talk, attended by approximately 70 individuals, brought together workers and staff from various fields, including plasterers, groundworks professionals, painters, joiners, electricians, plumbers, bricklayers, and scaffolders.

Among the attendees were site staff members Jason Kite, Adam Walker, Andy Tyler, Cormac Magee, Wayne Godwin, Danny Pharmah, Wayne Callaghan, and Martin Tonks. The event featured impactful narratives from Rob and Justin, two former industry professionals who courageously shared their personal journeys dealing with mental health challenges. Their stories resonated profoundly, sparking a transformative shift in the room.

Rob and Justin's narratives highlighted the importance of starting conversations about mental health, a topic often stigmatised within the construction industry. Their courage inspired attendees to acknowledge their own vulnerabilities. By the end of the session, attendees approached Rob and Justin, expressing gratitude for their candour and acknowledging the universal truth that mental health issues can affect anyone.

"The impact of this event was profound," remarked Paul Eaglefield, Contracts Manager at Countryside Partnerships South East Midlands. "Witnessing the transformation in our colleagues' attitudes, from skepticism to understanding and empathy, was inspiring. Rob and Justin's stories have shown us that it's okay to talk about mental health, that seeking help is a sign of strength, not weakness. We are immensely grateful to Lighthouse Charity for their invaluable work and to Rob and Justin for their bravery in sharing their experiences."
