With the ever-increasing cost of energy, it is accepted that practically every service and material used in the construction industry will rise in cost adding to the problems both employers and clients face when projects have been priced some time ago with material and operational costs not being at current levels.
Client budgets will be insu cient /under pressure and consequently some projects may not go forward.
To try and negate the impact of these costs and at the same time reduce carbon emissions, Amrin have enhanced construction inspection services with the addition of optical and thermographic surveys undertaken by means of drone technology to deliver a better inspection service at a fraction of the cost of traditional access systems.
The drivers behind this additional method of inspecting works are as follows:
•Reduced carbon production due to no expensive plant or sca old being required including delivery and removal plant
•Real time cost savings due to speed of inspections and no further access plant or machinery required
•Height of buildings is no object
•Enhanced safety as there is no requirement for high level access
•The inspections will not impact on the day-to-day business of the occupants •Greater detail obtained due to the thermal imaging high lighting issues not visible to the naked eye
•Enables clients to obtain regular and real time information on the condition of their assets and property portfolio to enable maintenance issues to be identified much quicker
•Enables clients with evidence gathering when required to check historical repairs
•Enables new build projects to be monitored for specification compliance and potential design conflicts.
To ensure compliance with legal requirements and H+S, the Amrin team have attended the necessary drone pilot’s course over a three-day period and passed the examination. The appropriate insurance for operation of this equipment is also in place.
The upside of this o ering is that our drone pilots who are professionally qualified building engineers/clerk of works can interpret the information from the cameras instantly without the need to engage third parties, generate a report with supporting photographs thus providing an all embracing one stop reporting service which enables informed rapid decision making by a client.
The evidence we gather is supported by photographic and infrared imagery. The zoom facility allows close scrutiny of problematic areas. This is supported with the ability to view the heat loss or cold spots highlighted by the infrared technology. We do not require access equipment. We do not need expensive Mobile Elevated Platforms; we do not need sca old access or restrictive man safe systems. Our operations are a two-man operation as we always keep our eyes on the drone, this is called VLOS (visual line of sight) ensuring public safety at all times. Secondly, we aim to keep our feet firmly on the ground, with the ability to reach as high as 200m there are very few buildings we cannot survey safely.
