Neilcott Construction has started building work to develop new Bridgewell supported living accommodation.
The new bespoke facility for people with care needs, designed and being built by Neilcott Construction, will be situated on the old Bridgewell site at Ladybank in Birch Hill. Construction work is expected to last until spring 2025. When complete, the accommodation will comprise of a two-storey building with four distinct households consisting of five bedrooms each.
The 20 units will each have an en-suite and will benefit from shared communal areas and dining spaces, enabling people with care needs to live independently in shared accommodation.
The modern design will provide accommodation that is better suited to the needs of the individual and will encourage its tenants to be in control of their lives. It will support them to enjoy freedom, manage their daily living skills, be resilient, physically and emotionally healthy and more independent.
Cllr Megan Wright, executive member for adult services, health and housing, said: "The council has been working with people with care needs, their families and its partners in the development of this scheme.
"It is great to now see the construction work getting underway, ready for the new Bridgewell provision. Not only will the new site ensure our most vulnerable residents have accommodation that is fit for purpose, but it will also bring them independence.
"The design of the building will allow for engagement between residents, reducing the feeling of isolation, and will be invaluable for those living with care needs."
John Papworth, regional director from Neilcott Construction Ltd, said: "We are delighted to be working with Bracknell Forest Council to deliver sustainable new supported living accommodation at Bridgewell.
"This will be built to BREEAM* excellent rating, offering high levels of energy efficiency and affordable running costs. Additionally, this initiative will contribute to the local economy by providing employment opportunities for skilled trades and supporting small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs)."
