SLR Consulting Appointment Expands Its Heritage Operations
SLR Consulting has announced the appointment of experienced archaeologist and strategic heritage advisor John Trehy, as the consultancy expands its expertise in the heritage sector.
John brings over 20 years' experience of archaeology to the consultancy and will be responsible for overall management of SLR Consulting's heritage team and growing the company's business across both the United Kingdom and Ireland.
"There's a huge amount of heritage assessment work required as part of energy transition, and SLR's huge footing in sustainability makes it an exciting time to join the business," Trehy said.
He joins SLR Consulting following a 19-year career with planning consultancy Terence O'Rourke, which rebranded to tor&co in 2023. He was the strategic heritage advisor and company archaeologist and responsible for development of a heritage team that garnered much respect within the industry.
"I've learnt across my career that conservation of the historic environment and development can be complementary and not opposed to one another. Creating successful, sustainable new places and communities should borrow from the historic environment, as it provides a greater sense of place," Trehy said.
As well as leading on large scale archaeological excavations, and promoting the suitability of strategic sites for development, John will be responsible for enhancing recognition of the work of SLR's heritage team and their extensive expertise in built heritage and archaeological assessment and delivery.
SLR Consulting is a global leader in sustainability solutions. Initially starting out as a UK business 25 years ago, it now operates worldwide with more than 3,000 people delivering client solutions across six regions.
