Refurbishment work on Longton Library in Stoke-on-Trent is almost complete.

Work has been ongoing on the refurb of Longton Library since £300,000 of funding was secured from Arts Council England, as part of the Libraries Improvement Fund.

The modernisation of the library is the largest part of the programme proposed in the Libraries Improvement Fund, will ultimately include the installation of wi-fi printing across all six library sites plus self-release printing across four libraries.

Councillor Jane Ashworth, Leader of Stoke-on-Trent City Council said: "In order to make these exciting refurbishments we need to temporary close the library. We will have the extremely popular Little Library outside Longton Library three days a week during the closure period, so members and other residents can still access an array of library services.

"For members and visitors who wish to access our different family sessions such as Singing Bears and Bouncing Bears and continue to borrow books, your nearest libraries will be in Stoke and Meir.

"This is an exciting time for our libraries, with the refurbishments of Longton and Stoke libraries which will modernise and enhance them both for members and casual visitors."
