Lovell Joins Forces With Cobalt Housing

National housebuilder Lovell has joined forces with Cobalt Housing to help fund a vital food resource at Ellergreen Community Centre, in collaboration with Alt Valley Community Trust.

Each organisation has contributed significant funds alongside local councillors Kevin Pilnick and Lena McCormick. This collective effort has empowered Alt Valley Community Trust to open the doors of the pantry, offering weekly access to essential groceries valued at £25 for the nominal fee of £3.50.

Laura Taylor, community engagement manager at Lovell, said: "We are deeply committed to supporting the communities we serve and by partnering with Alt Valley Community Trust and Cobalt Housing, we are proud to play a role in addressing food insecurity in Norris Green."

This collaboration solidifies the dedication to social responsibility and community enrichment from both Lovell and Cobalt Housing, which are both involved in the Waterdale Gardens development.

Work began in September 2023 to deliver 88 homes at the site near to the Showcase Cinema, which includes shared ownership and rent-to-buy options. By supporting the pantry, they aim to empower Norris Green residents facing food crisis with access to nutritious meals and essential household items.

Laura added: "We believe that everyone deserves access to nutritious food and essential household supplies, especially during challenging times. By supporting the pantry alongside councillors and the Alt Valley Community Trust, we aim to empower Norris Green residents and help make a meaningful difference in the lives of our neighbours."

The launch of the food pantry will take place on March 22 exemplifies the power of housing partnerships and collective community action in creating positive change. Lovell and Cobalt Housing remain steadfast in their commitment to supporting initiatives that enhance the well-being and resilience of local residents, fostering a brighter future for all.
