BAM Selected To Build New £38m Teaching Building
Construction firm BAM has been selected to build a new £38 million teaching building at North Lindsey College in Scunthorpe.
The three-storey building will provide a new focal point on the College’s Kingsway Campus, consolidating teaching space within a modern sustainable building that will be capable of accommodating up to 1400 students and staff.
The new, highly sustainable building has been designed around a central social heart space and will include general and specialist classrooms, dining areas, a dedicated SEND area, and an auditorium. Students will benefit from new specialist teaching facilities such as commercial training kitchens and science laboratories.
BAM has been appointed to deliver the scheme by the Department for Education (DfE) under the Construction Framework 2021. The new building has been designed by Bond Bryan and will be net zero carbon in operation, in line with the Department for Education’s requirements for all new education buildings.
Kelvin Pollard, Construction Director at BAM, said: "As we start construction on this exciting project, we’re looking forward to creating a highly sustainable, modern new building for North Lindsey College, with fantastic facilities that will inspire students in Scunthorpe for years to come. Once again, sustainability will be central to our approach, as we deliver a building that is net zero carbon in operation, and the work we will undertake here is perfectly aligned with BAM's own commitment to build a sustainable tomorrow."
