Highway improvement works are to start in Meir, Stoke-on-Trent, on Monday 25 March.

The works on Lysander Road will take approximately 12 weeks and will see improved access, and reduced queuing between the A50 roundabout and Tesco roundabout.

During the first week, BT will access the site to undertake some diversionary work for their underground cables. The highway improvement works will start the following week.


Works will include widening the carriageway to introduce an additional lane and the current crossing point where the pedestrian refuge island is located, will be upgraded to a zebra crossing.

A spokesperson for Stoke-on-Trent City Council said: "This is a busy junction, especially for pedestrians. The works are aimed at reducing congestion at this junction as we want to ensure the safety of all users of this route.

"I would like to thank highway users for their patience during this time and want to reassure residents and drivers that disruption will be kept to a minimum during this time."
