Deeley Construction has commenced work on a £19.6 million supported living development which will see the delivery of 80 new apartments in Peterborough.
The construction firm is building the homes in Hampton for specialist housing provider Anchor.
The development partners joined together to mark the start of work in a groundbreaking ceremony at the site at Silver Hill.
Anchor is the largest not-for-profit provider of specialist housing and care for people in later life in England and the scheme marks the first development delivered in partnership with Deeley Construction.
The four-storey scheme, which comprise a mix of 32 one bed and 48 two bed apartments, is being delivered via the Homes England framework.
The development will also feature communal spaces and a lounge for residents while also featuring health and wellness suites, guest accommodation and 45 car park spaces with 44 EV charging points.
Deeley Construction is building the homes to a highly-sustainable standard and will feature a range of energy-saving measures, including an air source heat pump, underfloor heating system and hot water cylinder.
Work is expected to be completed on the homes in winter 2025, with the first residents anticipated to have moved in by December 2025.
This is the first scheme Deeley Construction, headquartered in Coventry, has delivered in Peterborough and signals an expansion of its footprint in the healthcare and housing sector.
It is the first of two schemes Deeley is delivering in partnership with Anchor – the second being 137 independent living apartments in Sutton Coldfield, Birmingham.
Martin Gallagher, Managing Director of Deeley Construction, said: "The start of work at the scheme in Peterborough is a major milestone for our partnership with Anchor.
"The development is set to create vital new affordable homes for hundreds of older people in Hampton and bring significant positive benefits to the local community.
"We have great experience in delivering developments of this type which create lasting value for communities and it’s fantastic to see our team now on site and work underway."
