To ensure the safety of the visitors at the Legacy Festival, the festival organisation sought a temporary security solution that could not only monitor the flow of festival-goers entering the grounds but also provide the local police with real-time access to camera footage from various locations on the site.
"At the Legacy Festival, the focus was not only on the technical aspects of security but also on the collaboration with various partners, including the client and the local police," explains Mathias Germeau, Operations Manager at Watchtower.
Since the local police wanted to monitor the video footage in real time during the festival, a reliable and stable local network was set up to enable real-time monitoring. Three strategically placed Watchtower camera masts were connected via a satellite link, creating a stable and fast microwave connection. Camera footage from the different Watchtowers was transmitted through this connection to a central control point, allowing the police to monitor multiple locations on the festival grounds in real time on a single screen.
The reliability of the network was crucial to ensure that there were no interruptions in the footage, which enabled the police to act quickly and effectively if necessary, thus monitoring the event efficiently. With the satellite connection between the Watchtowers, we ensured that there was always an up-to-date and accurate view of the festival situation, which increased safety for festival-goers.
"Every event is different, and it is our task to provide a solution that perfectly matches the security needs of the client," Germeau continues. "At Watchtower, we strive for a partnership based on trust, effectiveness, and innovation. The Legacy Festival is an excellent example of this. By applying our reliable and effective security solutions in an innovative way, we were able to provide the client with the desired solution."
