Contract For Major Civic Centre Revamp Approved
Haringey Council has approved the main construction contract for a transformative expansion and refurbishment of the borough's Civic Centre in Wood Green.
The project includes a revitalised hub for council staff, residents, and community groups while preserving the heritage of the Grade II listed building.
The redevelopment includes a new annex, modern offices, and restored civic spaces designed for shared use by the community. With a focus on sustainability and eco-friendly design, the upgrade aligns with the council’s commitment to green initiatives.
The restoration of the landmark building is considered the most cost-effective solution to meet the council’s accommodation needs. It also opens the door for alternative uses of the council’s other properties in Wood Green, contributing to ongoing investment and regeneration efforts in the area.
The upgraded Civic Centre will accommodate over 800 council staff and hundreds of visitors daily, with dedicated spaces for local residents and community groups.
