Costain has been selected to provide programme management services to Thames Water as part of a new five-year framework. The contract will support the delivery of upgrades to the water company's infrastructure assets across the region.
Thames Water anticipates a significant increase in its capital programme during the next five years (AMP8), and Costain will play a key role in delivering these projects. The infrastructure firm will provide support for programme management, benefits management, change control, and transition planning.
This latest contract builds on Costain's existing relationship with Thames Water. Earlier this year, the company was awarded contracts to support the water company's Wastewater Asset Assurance Programme and is currently conducting clay compaction trials for a new reservoir in Oxfordshire.
Graham Sugrue, framework director at Costain, commented: "We have an excellent working relationship with Thames Water and we're looking forward to supporting as it expands its project management office to deliver critical infrastructure upgrades for AMP8 and beyond. These upgrades will provide essential water services to millions of Thames Water customers, improving people's lives and the environment across the region."
Preetinder Dhanoa, capital procurement business partner at Thames Water, said: "We are delighted to confirm these critical framework awards, which will be used to source asset engineering and capital professional services that are critical to the success of Thames Water's AMP8 programme. This agreement will introduce a number of improvements to our previous arrangements, including driving value through innovation and partnership working."
Costain has a long track record of delivering industry-leading advisory and PMO support across the infrastructure ecosystem, enhancing customer teams and giving access to specialist resources when required. The news comes after Costain was named Global Project Controls Consultancy of the Year at the recent Project Controls Expo Awards, which testifies to Costain's commitment to our customers and to digital transformation, smart project delivery, and data-driven excellence.
