United Living Group has announced that AFECO, a subsidiary of United Living Infrastructure Services (ULIS), has been selected as a partner in United Utilities' £500 million minor works framework.
The framework supports the water company's AMP8 investment plans, which focus on enhancing water and wastewater infrastructure in the North West.
AFECO, an independent specialist engineering services company acquired by United Living in April 2024, will join 10 other mechanical and electrical experts and 20 civil engineering specialists in executing these critical projects. The AMP8 programme, pending approval from water regulator Ofwat, will cover asset management initiatives from April 2025 through March 2030.
As part of the framework, AFECO will contribute to key initiatives, including the Water, Wastewater, and Better Rivers programmes, with a strong emphasis on delivering environmental benefits. Projects will include reducing storm overflow activations and enhancing the region’s water systems. AFECO’s responsibilities span the design, installation, commissioning, and optimisation of solutions such as control panels, switchboards, SCADA, PLC, and electrical systems.
Campbell Crawford, Managing Director, United Living Infrastructure Services, said: "We are delighted that United Utilities has chosen AFECO as a partner in the region’s largest proposed investment in water and wastewater infrastructure for more than a century.
"AFECO has an outstanding reputation for providing innovative mechanical and electrical solutions. AFECO will bring industry leading engineering capabilities and expertise to support United Utilities in delivering this major programme of works which benefit the environment, customers and the local North West community."
