Somerset Council has announced the commencement of the next phases of the North Taunton Woolaway Regeneration project.
A ceremony held on December 10 at the Phase B site on Oxford Place brought together representatives from Somerset Council, Homes England, and Classic Builders to officially kickstart phases B and Ci. The project is supported by regeneration funding from Homes England.
Building on the success of Phase A, which was completed earlier this year and delivered 47 energy-efficient homes, the upcoming phases will introduce 53 new homes. These will include 13 flats, 4 bungalows, and 36 houses, distributed across two parcels of land.
Each home is designed to meet Lifetime Home Standards, ensuring they remain accessible and adaptable to the evolving needs of tenants. Additionally, the development incorporates eco-friendly features such as bat boxes, bird boxes, bee bricks, and hedgehog highways to support local biodiversity.
Classic Builders (SW) Ltd, a Plymouth-based contractor with extensive experience in sustainable housing, has been appointed as the Principal Contractor for the design and construction of these phases. The firm previously delivered Somerset Council's Minehead project at Rainbow Way, showcasing its expertise in creating environmentally conscious communities.
