Morgan Sindall Infrastructure Named Cornerstone Employer in Cumbria

Morgan Sindall Infrastructure has been appointed a Cornerstone Employer in Cumbria in recognition of the firm's role in supporting and inspiring young people.

Morgan Sindall Infrastructure will work with Enterprising Cumbria's Careers Hub team and the county's business community. The aim is to drive forward careers and enterprise provision.

Morgan Sindall Infrastructure's Nuclear business and its social enterprise, All Together Cumbria, already deliver a wide range of programmes. These programmes are designed to develop a new generation of talent.

The company has a long-standing partnership with the Energy Coast University Technical College (UTC) in Lillyhall.

Representatives from both organisations mentor each other and share knowledge.

A number of Morgan Sindall Infrastructure's nuclear team provide careers support to local schools. Hundreds of young people have benefited from the company's Apprenticeship Ready Programme and other initiatives.

All Together Cumbria's annual Festival of Work attracts hundreds of students each year.

In 2024, the social enterprise staged the first ever Quiet Festival of Work, designed for students with special educational needs and disabilities (SEND).

Andy Dodds, Social Enterprise Manager – Nuclear, said: "We're delighted to become a Cornerstone Employer. It's superb recognition for what we're doing to ensure young people, regardless of their background or circumstances have the best possible chance to access career opportunities and achieve their ambitions.

"Being part of Cumbria's Cornerstone Employer community means we can continue our work to forge closer links between industry and education and work collaboratively to ensure young people have all the support they need to succeed and flourish. At the end of the day, they hold the key to Cumbria's future prosperity."

Morgan Sindall Infrastructure join a select group of eight employers in Cumbria united by the goal of providing world class careers education. They will join the likes of BAE Systems, Sellafield Limited, Oxley Group, Balfour Beatty, Cumbria Tourism and the Brathay Trust in supporting Cumbria Careers Hub in shaping and delivering the county's careers strategy.

Cath Dutton, Strategic Careers Lead from Enterprising Cumbria, said: "I'm delighted to welcome Morgan Sindall Infrastructure as a Cornerstone Employer in Cumbria. Their work to break down barriers for young people facing barriers when it comes to accessing careers advice and support is a fantastic example of leading from the front and epitomises the trailblazing nature of what this initiative is all about.
