Bouygues UK Celebrates Topping Out Of Hallsville Quarter Phase Four
Bouygues UK has reached a major milestone in the fourth phase of the Hallsville Quarter regeneration project in Canning Town, London.
The project, part of the £3.7 billion Canning Town and Custom House Regeneration Programme, recently held a topping out ceremony, marking the completion of the 11-storey development’s highest point ahead of schedule. The project is expected to be completed by summer 2026.
Developed as a joint venture between Crosstree Real Estate Partners and Bouygues UK's development arm, this phase of Hallsville Quarter will provide 375 purpose-built student accommodation units. Designed by PRP Architects with interiors by Holloway Li, the development will include state-of-the-art student rooms, modern amenities, a roof terrace, and a landscaped public realm. Committed to sustainability, Bouygues UK is targeting BREEAM Excellent certification and is incorporating low-carbon initiatives such as fully pre-fabricated bathrooms and self-delivery of the building's concrete frame and internal finishes.
This milestone represents significant progress in the £600 million Hallsville Quarter Masterplan, which, upon completion, will feature over 1,100 private and affordable homes, more than 30,000 square metres of leisure and retail space, and a new hotel. Strategically positioned opposite Canning Town underground station, the development will also offer public spaces, pedestrian pathways, cyclist provisions, and secure parking facilities.
Bouygues UK and Morgan Sindall co-chair a Construction Working Group for the borough, meeting quarterly to discuss best practices in social value. Bouygues UK actively engages with local schools, offering initiatives such as CV writing workshops, mock interviews, and community volunteering. The project also provides 10 weeks of work experience opportunities for local schools, two paid placements for University of East London (UEL) engineering master’s students, and 12 apprenticeships commencing this year. Additionally, a half-day training course for 20 local residents has been launched in partnership with Newham Works, reinforcing Bouygues UK’s commitment to community engagement and workforce development.
