A formal planning application has been submitted for the redevelopment of the Maltings venue in Berwick, following a public consultation earlier this year.
A new image of the proposed venue has also been released, giving residents a clearer view of the planned transformation.
The application will be available for public viewing on the Council's planning portal later this month, allowing the community to review the detailed plans and share their feedback on the project. This follows a successful consultation in January and February, which saw 336 respondents, with more than two-thirds expressing support for the plans.
The £28.3 million Maltings project is part of a broader series of major investments in Berwick, aimed at revitalising the town and enhancing its cultural scene. These include a new £23 million leisure centre, a £10 million initiative to develop a vibrant cultural hub at Berwick Barracks, and the establishment of a Culture and Creative Zone—further solidifying Berwick's reputation as a growing centre for creative activity in the northeast.
Once completed, the Maltings venue is expected to play a pivotal role in the town's ongoing regeneration, drawing both locals and visitors to experience its new offerings.
