Construction News Image
Construction is progressing on a new £15.9 million extra care housing scheme in Hucknall town centre, transforming the site of the former police station into modern, affordable homes.

Midland-based Deeley Construction is delivering the project on behalf of Preferred Homes Ltd, a provider of affordable extra care housing. The development will include 73 apartments for affordable rent, designed to offer comfortable and contemporary living for residents.

The scheme will consist of three-storey and four-storey buildings with a mix of one-bedroom and two-bedroom apartments. It will also feature extensive communal facilities, including a lounge, dining area, plant room, multi-purpose room, and a bistro for both residents and the wider community.

Committed to sustainability, the development will incorporate rooftop photovoltaic panels, air source heat pumps for each apartment, and four electric vehicle charging points.

This is the second project that Deeley Construction has undertaken for Preferred Homes. The scheme is being part-funded through Homes England’s Affordable Homes Programme, reinforcing its mission to provide high-quality, affordable housing across the UK.
