Corinthian Quay - A Real Design Statement
When the architects and designers set out their plans for Corinthian Quay apartments at Granton Harbour, they studied the naval history of the harbour and interpreted this through contemporary architecture. Their mission was to create a stunning and proud building to capture the essence of the harbour location and sea views.
Now the building is over two thirds sold and residents are enjoying the Corinthian Quay design. Pauline Coates, Sales Manager says: “The architects used clean, modern lines in the design of the building, with curves echoing those of ocean liners and large windows to exploit the panoramic sea views. Internally, the apartment layouts are light and gracious with the space flowing out into the balconies and terraces, recalling the upper decks of the liners.”
The ocean liner theme is carried through with the design of the handrail details and glass balustrades. At ground level, the stone base can be identified with Edinburgh’s new town, with the glass entrances leading into generous entrance halls featuring contemporary artwork on the walls. This attention to design detail carries through to the roof and upper storey which are clad in copper panels. The high quality of specification compliments the stone in demonstrating the building’s grandeur and gravitas, whilst at the same time presents a contrast with its light and elegant architectural qualities.
The apartments make the most of the light and views – most of the 91 apartments boast an uninterrupted view of the sea. Some have balconies and terraces, all carefully designed to exploit the natural beauty of this superb location. There is an excellent range of apartment styles to choose from, with interior layouts to suit every lifestyle. And if life by the sea is an attractive proposition – you will also have the delights of the city of Edinburgh nearby.
“Customers seem to really appreciate the attention to detail at Corinthian Quay”, continues Pauline, “as well as the location close to Edinburgh, it’s the extra touches like the fitted wardrobes in every room and storage cupboards that are also important. Additionally, we’ve really made the most of the layout of each apartment to capitalise on the light and space which makes a huge difference”
