Women In Property Announce Award Winners

The Central Scotland branch of Women in Property announced the winner of their Student Awards Scheme at a special lunch held at the Sheraton in Edinburgh on 14th May 2007.

Fiona Forrest, currently in her 3rd year at Glasgow Caledonian University studying Property Development and Valuation, scooped first prize ahead of 5 other finalists from Universities across the Central belt. Fiona receives a cheque for £500, the offer of a summer work placement and a professional mentor for her first year of work. She will also represent the Central Scotland branch at the ‘Best of Best’ National Awards to be held at Claridges in London in September.

The Student Award Scheme, is being run throughout all Women in Property branches, in conjunction with the Construction Youth Trust. Its aim is to encourage young women into the property and construction industry and provide them with a network of support to develop their careers.

Six 3rd year students studying the Built Environment at Universities in Central Scotland, were put forward by their course tutors for the regional award. They attended an interview with a panel of judges that included Graeme Hartley, Director of RICS, Mary Wrenn, Chief Executive of RIAS and representatives from Women in Property and the Construction Youth Trust.
