ScottishPower Executive To Lead Green Energy Trade Body
The Board of Scottish Renewables are pleased to announce that Andrew Jamieson, Rrenewables Business Development Director at ScottishPower Renewables, has been elected as the new chair of the green energy trade body following Dr Richard Yemm’s retiral from the Board. Jeremy Sainsbury, a director with Natural Power Consultants has been elected vice-chair.
Andrew Jamieson said: “I am very honoured to be chosen by my industry colleagues to take on this role as the sector strives to grow and develop. The focus on climate change and renewable energy as is becoming apparent in the agenda for the new Scottish Executive, and indeed in the Scottish Parliament, means that Scottish Renewables will be at the heart of this development, influencing how best we harness our natural resources for sustainable energy development. Expanding the range of renewable technologies in electricity generation, establishing a renewable heat strategy and targets, together with renewable solutions to transport fuels, are the routes to mainstreaming sustainable energy. With these developments, Scotland will go on to reap the economic, social and environmental benefits that such a competitive lead will bring.”
Jason Ormiston, Chief Executive of Scottish Renewables, said: “I look forward to working closely with Andrew and the Scottish Renewables Board to ensure renewables remain at the heart of energy policy in Scotland. With a new Scottish Executive seeking major cuts in carbon emissions and Westminster due to publish an Energy White Paper later this month there is much for Scottish Renewables to do, that is why the best team is needed to ensure the potential of renewables in Scotland is maximised.
