Woodhead Rebrand Highlight Award Winning Values

Bilsthorpe construction company Woodhead has helped public sector client, Nottinghamshire County Council to achieve Highly Commended status in last week’s 2007 Awards for Excellence in Local Government Public Private Partnership.

The Council was praised for the Children’s Centres Construction programme that has seen Woodhead build 12 new children’s centres built across Nottinghamshire on behalf of the Council.

Woodhead Project Manager, Derek McGrath, said: “We are proud to have assisted the Council in helping them gain national recognition in these important national awards. Our teamwork approach on all projects has helped us to extend our NCC contract year on year and to attract other major clients including works for the Ministry of Defence in association with Babcock Dyncorp.”

Lesley Bradley, Head of Service Building Direct (Property) Resources with Nottinghamshire County Council said: “The partnership has been a positive catalyst for change. Both partners have adopted nationally recommended lean construction methods leading to improved turn around times and reduced waste which facilitated the excellent delivery of the Children’s Centre Programme.”

Woodhead’s focus on teamwork has now led the 60-year-old company rebranding with the three core values that have been central to the firms ongoing success: ‘Teamwork’, ‘Craftsmanship’ and ‘Innovation’.

A focus on ‘Craftsmanship’ has helped Woodhead achieve ten prestigious awards in eight years for projects such as the restoration of Grade II listed Cusworth Hall and the Southwell Workhouse.

Woodhead has also embraced ‘Innovation’ by pioneering lean construction methods and setting up modern methods of construction company K-Panels Ltd, recent winner of the Mansfield 2020 Innovation Award 2007 for the development of the Kingspan TEK building system.
