Earthwise Scotland Scores A First For Green Energy

Inverurie-based Earthwise Scotland has scored a first for green energy in Scotland with its range of environmentally-friendly heat pumps.

In a major new ‘green’ initiative by the Scottish Executive, the company is the first in Scotland to be awarded full accreditation as an approved installer for air source heat pumps under the Scottish Communities and Housebuild Renewables Initiative (SCHRI).

As a result of the accreditation, which was awarded following a rigorous selection process, Earthwise is now able to supply Dimplex air source heat pumps that qualify for grants of up to £4,000 under the SCHRI scheme jointly funded by the Energy Savings Trust and the Highlands & Islands Enterprise.

Earthwise Scotland, which employs eight people from its Netherton Business Centre office, has already installed the first equipment to get grant funding, in a self-build house in Sutherland, where a Dimplex heat pump is one of the major ways to cut energy bills.

Angela Wilson, Marketing Director for Earthwise Scotland, commented: “Scotland is way ahead of the rest of the UK when it comes to renewable solutions and we’re proud to be the first fully accredited air source installer under the SCHRI scheme.”

She continued: “We feel the combination of Earthwise Scotland’s installation experience with a well-known brand name like Dimplex, together with the grant support now available, will really help people with an interest in renewable energy to take that first step.”

The SCHRI grants are open to individual householders, community groups and housing developers for the installation of heat pumps and other microgeneration technologies.
