Through a process of gradual and organic growth, Dean and Dyball has developed into a £250 million, well-rounded construction and property development business. Still a privately owned family business, it is one of the few to keep its own plant fleet – a fleet that is still expanding.
The company's latest equipment purchase includes six, Front Tip Thwaites Alldrive dumpers, although as a preferred supplier, Thwaites is continually supplying machines to cope with Dean and Dyball’s on-going expansion and replacement programme.
"The latest six machine order has been delivered to the Ringwood depot and we are hoping to add a further 14 in the next financial year," said Plant Manager Peter Worden. "As the company is expanding, the plant fleet is kept very busy. By operating our own machines this gives us more control over equipment quality, availability and delivery."
The business was established by John Dean and Peter Dyball, with its first office in Burley opening in 1970, not far from its current Ringwood offices on the edge of the New Forest.
The company became established as a civil engineering contractor along the south coast during the 1970s before taking the first steps into building and property development. In the early 1980s, its first marina development was built at Shamrock Quay, quickly followed by a number of other Mediterranean style marina villages including Hythe Marina Village and Ocean Village Marina.
In 1990 the company incorporated rail into its portfolio of experience successfully completing its first contract for the British Railways Board.
“We like the Thwaites Alldrive product range which has machines from one tonne to 10 tonnes,” said Mr Worden. “We run most sizes in the flee and although we have Powerswivel machines, we are now tending to concentrate on standard front tip units.”
Dean and Dyball has one, three, six, seven, nine and ten tonne Thwaites Alldrive dumpers. The latest delivery of the six machines followed five, six tonne machines and four, three tonne units.
Thwaites has the world's broadest range of four wheel drive machines renowned throughout the industry for high performance levels, exceptional durability and low operating costs which guarantees high resale values for many years to come.
The company has been producing dumpers since 1937 and has earned an enviable reputation for innovation resulting from advanced design and utilising the very latest production techniques.
