Major Bridge Works To Improve Safety
The Highways Agency will be holding a public exhibition on Friday 31 August and Saturday 1 September to explain the work that will be taking place on the M4 between junctions 5 and 7 from October.
The exhibitions will be open to the public from 1pm to 7pm on Friday 31 August and from 9am to 1pm on Saturday 1 September.
Work is taking place to improve the safety on bridges between junctions 5 and 7. Work will be carried out on the Chalvey Interchange and the Price of Wales Bridge, starting in October 2007 and completed by December 2008.
Safety and future maintenance along this route will be improved by constructing a hard shoulder and improving barriers on the bridges.
Highways Agency Project Manager, Steve Cobb, said: "We're holding these exhibitions to explain to road users and residents the work that will be carried out over the next year to this section of the M4. Our staff will be available on Friday and Saturday to answer any questions people may have."
"This work will improve the safety of road users on this route. We will be working as fast as possible so that we can complete the project quickly."
During the work, narrow lanes and a 50mph speed limit will be in place for the safety of the public and the workforce. Further times and dates of other closures will be announced at a later date.
