Mansell Secures Contract For Landmark Medical Teaching Complex
Leading construction firm, Mansell, has been awarded a major contract to build a multi-million pound, state-of-the-art, medical teaching and training complex in Aberdeen.
Mansell has been appointed by the University of Aberdeen and NHS Grampian to deliver the new £18.5m centre, which will be constructed within the existing health campus at Foresterhill.
The four-storey, 4,000 square metre building, which has been designed to achieve an excellent sustainable BREEAM rating, will provide amongst the finest clinical skills training facilities in the UK and will also include a conference suite, lecture theatre, telemedicine room and café.
The complex – currently known as the Matthew Hay project – is expected to open in 2009.
George Hood, Mansell’s Divisional Managing Director for Scotland, said: "We are delighted to have this opportunity to work with Aberdeen University and NHS Grampian on this exciting and innovative project. I am confident that we have the skills and resources available to help deliver an outstanding building on time and within budget."
Professor Stephen Logan, Senior Vice Principal of University of Aberdeen, added: "The University of Aberdeen is tremendously excited about the Matthew Hay project which will bring an outstanding facility to Aberdeen’s already vibrant and progressive health campus at Foresterhill.
"This first class facility is bound to attract even more top quality medical students and staff to the North-east of Scotland."
All of Mansell’s Scottish offices – in Aberdeen, Edinburgh, Elgin, Dundee, Glasgow and Perth– continue to perform well with significant contracts secured across a range of business sectors in recent months.
