Caldervale Forge Celebrates Company Expansion

Airdrie and Shotts MP, Dr John Reid visited Caldervale Forge to mark the completion of the manufacturing company's £200k extension project.

The former Secretary of State and Karen Whitefield MSP were given a tour of the 2,500 sq ft extension which is a valuable addition to the working-space of the plant in Airdrie's Dunrobin Road.

Based in the town for over 100 years, the company's most successful product, 'Rockeater' breaker steels, are used in the construction, demolition and quarrying industries.

The unveiling of the extension marks the first anniversary of owner and Managing Director, Neil Bairdwatson’s death. Mr Bairdwatson, who continued to lead the company despite being well into his eighties, had given the go-ahead for the extension to take place shortly before he died but unfortunately he never saw the plans come to fruition.

The managers of the business, arranged funding for the extension privately to ensure the company continued its global expansion and international appeal.

Company Secretary, John Ramsay said: "I am thrilled to welcome John Reid and Karen Whitefield back to Caldervale Forge especially to mark the completion of our new extension.

"The new extension is a milestone for the business in terms of its growth, however the managers are exploring sways to expand further including an increase in the product range which may include complimentary equipment and services.

"Neil Bairdwatson had strong ambitions for the business, the new extension is completed in memory of him and his commitment and dedication to the company."
