Hockey Team Nets Sponsorship From Top Architects
Scots architectural practice Lawrence McPherson Associates is proving to be a good sport by sponsoring Ayr hockey ladies 1st and 2nd XI's.
The company, which has offices in Ayr and Musselburgh, donated £800 to the teams for their new strips.
Stuart McPherson, Partner, said: "I must admit to having a bit of a vested interest in the 1st XI as my daughter Rebecca plays for them and twisted my arm a little bit about it.
"Seriously both teams work very hard and we are delighted to support them and give something back to the community in which we work."
The 1st XI finished third in National Division Three while the seconds, who were promoted to West District One, avoided relegation.
Allison Patrick, former 1st team captain, said: "It makes life a lot easier having the support of a local company and it is great for team morale. Lawrence McPherson Associates has been very generous sponsoring both teams and we are very grateful."
Rebecca is not the only sports star in the McPherson family, daughter Megan is also a keen hockey player while daughter Katie is a swimmer. Stuart himself is a member of the Ayrodynamic Triathalon team and a competition level cyclist.
Founded in 1994, Lawrence McPherson Associates is the largest architectural and town planning practice in Ayrshire. It has grown by 50% over the past three years thanks to major clients like Whitbread plc Premier Travel Inns, NHS Ayrshire and Arran and Stewart Milne Holdings.
