A12 Resurfacing Work Scheduled

Overnight resurfacing work on the A12 North near Gorleston will start on Monday 29 October until Thursday 8 November. The work will take place on the north and southbound carriageways between the Middleton Road roundabout and the Links Road roundabout.

The new surface will reduce noise for people living and working nearby and provide a smoother surface for drivers.

To minimise the disruption to drivers, work will be carried out between 8pm and 6am.

Drivers should be aware that the A12 entrance to the James Paget Hospital will be closed during part of the resurfacing scheme. Emergency staff and public using the hospital will be diverted to the Links Road and Brasenose Avenue entrances whilst the works are completed. Alternative routes will be clearly signed.

Access to side roads including Wedgewood Court, Stanley Avenue, Brasenose Avenue, Bridge Road and Kennedy Avenue will also be limited while work takes place so drivers are advised to plan their journeys in advance.

Highways Agency Route Performance Manager, Ranjit Mistry, said: "The new road surface will give road users a safer, smoother and quieter surface along this section. Disruption is being kept to a minimum by carrying out the work at night when traffic flows are lowest. However, drivers should plan their journeys and allow extra time while the improvements are taking place."
