Council Reveal Plans For £2m Scunthorpe Regeneration
North Lincolnshire Council will today showcase plans for a major revamp of the Crosby area in Scunthorpe.
The council has secured almost £2 million worth of funding to implement the Advance Crosby Project. The project will bring huge changes to the area including the modernisation of current properties, new houses being built, community areas being improved and the redesign of the town centre.
The consultation drop-in event will showcase architect's ideas and options and will take place at the Scunthorpe Church of England Primary School, Gurnell Street from 3pm – 8pm.
Members of the public will be able to give their opinions on the plans, which include offering properties back to local residents to buy or rent once the redevelopment has been completed.
Cllr Mick Grant, Cabinet Member for Housing and Strategic Planning, said: "The Advance Crosby Project is about making a real difference to an area of North Lincolnshire. We want residents to be proud of the area where they live. By developing the run down area of Crosby this will be made possible."
As well as the consultation event, the plans will be displayed at the following locations in Scunthorpe throughout the course of the coming week: Scunthorpe Central Library - Tuesday 30 October (2pm - 4pm) Wednesday 31 October (10am - 12pm) and Friday 2 November (10am - 12pm).
Pittwood House Wednesday - 31 October (2pm - 4pm), Thursday 1 November (10am - 12pm) and Friday 2 November (2pm - 4pm).
Project House, 27 West Street - Tuesday 30 October (10am - 12pm) and Thursday 1 November (2pm - 4pm).
In further news, contractors working on behalf of the Council will today begin work on transforming the Baths Hall Site in the city.
The work – which will cost up to £67,000 – is due to be completed by Christmas.
Once the site is demolished the Council will look at plans to build a "modern entertainment venue" in its place.
