Builders Prefer Cameron to Brown

An online poll has revealed that the construction industry prefers David Cameron to Gordon Brown.

The poll was conducted at the website for Interbuild, a construction industry events organiser, and over 1,200 respondents cast their vote. Cameron's policies received almost 800 votes compared to a miserly 477 for Gordon.

Interbuild Event Director Gordon Thomas said: "The range of visitors to Interbuild is wide and varied from all levels of the market - from multi-disciplined specifiers through to specialist contractors, general builders, installers and end users."

Mr Thomas said he believed Gordons Brown's policies lacked "clarity" and this explained the industries mood.

Mr Cameron's policies on construction include apposing the revision of the Construction Design and Management regulations, and soon after, un-apposing them.

The result is nevertheless surprising as the construction industry is traditionally pro labour, but even Gordon Brown's recent announcement of three million new homes by 2020 is struggling to win the hearts and minds of the industry.
