£1bn boost for Wandsworth
A private developer partnership has announced plans for record levels of investment in Wandsworth.
The Wandsworth Town Centre Partnership board has drawn up the new business plan, which includes shops, cafes, restaurants, leisure facilities and high quality residential development. It is hoped the developments will attract an influx of further investment for the Greater London Town.
The report highlights traffic and transport as key challenges including measures to boost capacity at Wandsworth Town station, improve the town centre environment and make the area more pedestrian friendly.
Town centre partnership ch/JMairman, Sue Roscoe Watts said: "Wandsworth will be a very different town centre in the future. Nowhere else in London is attracting investment on the scale we are now seeing. It will be the smartest new address south of the river.
"The Partnership has worked with the council and others over many years to get where we are today. The investment is already taking place around us - the action plan will take this forward so that the whole town centre community can share in the benefits."
