Amber Valley Upgrades Recycling Sites

Recycling facilities in Amber Valley are set to become bigger and better, as Amber Valley Borough Council upgrades its recycling sites across the Borough.

All recycling sites that provide facilities for recycling plastic will be upgraded to include new, larger plastic recycling banks. These banks will also accept waxed paper cartons (commonly known as Tetra Pak).

The new facilities will be introduced from April.

The new banks, which are being provided in partnership with local firm Recresco, will also be installed at four sites that don't currently have plastic recycling facilities. These sites are at Tesco in Alfreton; Sandy Lane, Crich; Newlands Inn, Golden Valley; and The New Inn, Riddings.

Councillor Jack Brown, Cabinet Member for Clean and Green at Amber Valley Borough Council said: "These bigger, better facilities are part of our ongoing drive to improve our recycling service and make it easier for people to recycle. The new banks have a much larger capacity, meaning not only will we be able to recycle more plastic, but also reduce the incidences of fly-tipping of waste at the sites due to the recycling banks being full.

"Residents across the Borough are already recycling huge amounts of waste, both at the kerbside and through our existing recycling sites. We hope the improved sites will prove popular with local residents and help us to continue reducing the amount of waste that gets sent to landfill."
