Businesses Invited To Compete For Olympic Contracts
Businesses in South Yorkshire are being invited to register on a national website offering Olympic contracts for 2012.
CompeteFor, a website set up for the publication of 2012 related contracts is supported by Yorkshire Forward and acts as a brokerage service between buyers throughout the 2012 supply chain and potential suppliers. It also provides access to business support services; building skills and capacity services.
The South Yorkshire launch of the London 2012 Business Network will be at BarnsleyWorks, an event designed to encompass business needs, held at The Metrodome in Barnsley on the 19th March 2008. Already businesses attending the BarnsleyWorks event have signed up for the CompeteFor sessions, which will be run by Richard Mould, Head of Procurement for LOCOG (The London Organising Committee of the Olympic and Paralympic Games).
Simon Hill, Executive Director for Business at supporting body Yorkshire Forward comments: "The London 2012 Olympics is a chance to get Yorkshire and Humber onto a ready made global business platform. Businesses in every sector from construction, engineering and manufacturing to creative, merchandising and retail will be among those which stand to benefit.
"Registering with CompeteFor will mean you can find out about the opportunities available and can apply for a contract that, if won, could not only help your business prospects but also put your business services in front of a worldwide audience."
CompeteFor has been developed on behalf of the English Regional Development Agencies and UK Devolved Administrations by the London Development Agency, working closely with the London Organising Committee of the Olympic and Paraolympic Games (LOCOG) and the Olympic Delivery Authority (ODA).
