Lincolnshire To Receive Grants For Improvement Projects

A host of improvement projects across the county are set to benefit from grants, as Lincolnshire County Council distributes funding from the Government's Aggregates Levy Sustainability Fund again.

The fund can support a diverse range of schemes including improvements to public access, cycleways, upgrading recreation areas, community buildings and facilities and creation of wildlife habitats.

A total of around £100,000 is available to the county for areas that can complete their projects by 31 March 2009.

Sand, gravel and crushed rock, such as limestone, are classed as aggregates and Lincolnshire County Council is keen to receive applications from communities affected by aggregate extraction activities, both past and present. A call for Expressions of Interests is being made now with a closing date for this stage of 13 June 2008.

Previous grants have helped projects including Woodhall Spa Cycleway, Limewoods Tree Planting, the restoration of Aubourn Church Tower, various village hall refurbishments and the purchase of land to expand Great Ponton Playing Fields.
