Galliford Try Trials New Spray-On Plaster At Hospital Project
Galliford Try, which is currently building the £10 million Newton Community Hospital on behalf of the Halton and St Helens Primary Care Trust, is trialling a revolutionary new spray-on plastering technique at the project and finding that it is reducing the time required for the finishing and painting of interior walls by more than 30%.
The spray-on plaster called Pro-spray, which is distributed in the UK by USG, is being used as an alternative to more traditional hand plastering techniques. It is applied by specially trained plasterers and painters using a pressurised air unit and sprayed directly onto the walls. Colour can be added, negating the need for additional painting. Results on site have found the technique to provide a superior finish and significantly reduce the time required to complete this element of the build programme.
Dave Platt, Galliford Try Construction North's Project Manager on the development, said: "The new spray plastering technique we are using at the Community Hospital has brought enormous benefits to this project, both in reducing the time required to finish interior walls ahead of the M&E installation and in the quality of the finish it produces."
