ODA Award Olympic Park Highways Management Contract
The Olympic Delivery Authority (ODA) has awarded a key contract to Fitzpatrick Contractors Ltd for maintenance and construction works on the highways within the Olympic Park.
The three year contract will allow the ODA and delivery partner CLM to maximise the use of the highways within the Olympic Park which is efficient and safe, whilst minimising congestion and improving efficiency.
Fitzpatrick Contractors Ltd, who was selected from a shortlist of competitively priced tenders, offered the ODA a GIS linked database for Olympic Park traffic and approach roads, rapid mobilisation, and a commitment to enforcing and managing good health and safety policies in the Park coupled with a work culture of sustainability.
ODA Chairman John Armitt said: "Fitzpatrick Contractors Ltd has a sound track record of developing successful relationships with suppliers and contractors, and is dedicated to providing a quality service and value for money.
"Health and safety and sustainability are integral in their organisation, and they will work hard to minimise the impact they have on the environment whilst maintaining good service. Their commitment to increasing local employment is evident, from the fact that 30 per cent of their workforce are from neighbouring boroughs."
A spokesman from Fitzpatrick Contractors Ltd said: "Roads within and linking to the Olympic park are of major logistical importance and central to the construction and preparation for the 2012 Games.
"We are proud to have been awarded the Olympic Park highways management contract and look forward to working alongside the ODA and other stakeholders to help contribute towards a successful regeneration in Stratford, an outstanding Games, and a lasting legacy."
